John Devoldere Memorial Park

The following motion was carried by the Community Services Committee
of the city council.

That "John Devoldere Memorial Park" be the official name for the park located north of 80 Avenue and east of 167 Street as shown on Attachment III of the March 11, 1996 Planning and Development Department report.

John Devoldere was a Edmonton fire fighter for 35 years until his retirement in 1985. Mr Devoldere was a resident of Elmwood Community for 33 years and was involved in a wide variety of volunteer activities including scouts, little league (president of Jasper Place Little League for 6 years) and general community activity.

In recognition of his contributions to the community, Mr Devoldere was the first person to receive an honorary lifetime Elmwood Community League Membership.

The John Devoldere Memorial Park which stretches from 83 Avenue to 80 Avenue and somewhat aligned with 164 Street and 165 Street.

The Memorial Park also contains 2 ball diamonds and a soccer field.

The Memorial Park hosts our community league facilities which includes  our Spray Deck, Play Ground, Ice Rinks, Tennis Courts & Community League Hall.
